The Trojan Horse: Islam in America
Teacher: Sharon
Elander

Beaches and oceans are truly one of God’s most beautiful creations. But as a Minnesotan it’s important to understand the inherent risks of the ocean that are not part of our 10,000 lakes. Risks like undertows, sharks, or the ocean’s ability to fuel a hurricane. When it comes to Islam the Muslim people are like the beach, a beautiful creation. But when you incorporate their religion and especially the inseparable reality of religion and state known as political Islam, we need to become aware of its inherent risks. As Christians we should

grow our skills to reach out to our Muslim neighbors demonstrating the love and truth if Jesus Christ. We can’t stay naive to the fact that political Islam is a hurricane on the horizon of our society, and if we don’t understand its mechanisms, we may be come like the frog in the pot of water that begins to boil…and that doesn’t end well. So, I hope you will join me on Wednesday evenings in January for a 4-part series on understanding Islam.

That They May Be One: practicing the unity Jesus died to give us     Teacher: Todd Ell

Four sessions of teaching, real-life examples, honest conversation, and joyful celebration to heal the quiet wound that appears in every human community: mistrust, control, and distance. Together we will let Scripture gently examine our own hearts, then practice the small habits that feed the Unifying Cycle of honor and love instead of the dividing cycle of suspicion and mistrust. No blame, only longing.

Come, learn to put God first and, from that one secure love, to love both neighbor and self in true proportion – in church, family, workplace, school, or neighborhood.

Please select one option.
